The interest in the drawing for a signed softcover copy of Runaway has blown me away. I’ve received dozens of emails from readers who share my love of mysteries and are genuinely excited about the chance to win a copy. Due to the number of entries I’ve decided there will be more than one winner, at least two and possibly three. I’ve enjoyed this process so much and the responses from folks have been lovely. 1. I was the youngest of ten.

2. I have a BA in Social Sciences. I majored in Sociology and minored in Psychology.

3. I worked in early learning and for non-profit support programs for many years, from classroom to management. My early learning hero is Magda Gerber. Google her.

4. I’ve written and published three books—actually four. I re-published the first after deciding it would begin a series. It was re-edited, renamed and given a new cover.

5. I’ve begun outlining a new novel, a thriller. Someday I may write a mystery about a murder on a golf course.

6. I studied piano for five years as an adult and tried to play acoustic guitar as a teen. I had always wanted to learn an instrument. Taking piano lessons myself was a good way to encourage my kids to practice.

7. I am a classic rock music fanatic. Ask me anything.

8. Fav genres are crime fiction and classics. Fav authors include Ken Follett, PD James, Jonathan Kellerman, Sue Grafton, Austen, the Brontes, Hardy, Dumas, Stevenson and my idol, the incredible social commentator Charles Dickens.

9. Dave and I are avid golfers. We live in sunny, warm Arizona now after having lived in the rainy, cool Pacific NW most of our lives.

10. Fav food is almost any seafood —except oysters, chopped salad, curry with rice, homemade salsa. My coffee is strong, fresh and hot and I prefer it perked or pressed. I like Scottish-style Red Ales and Hefeweizens. And I do like a Gold Margarita on the rocks.

Veteran, Book 2 of the City Streets series is available in softcover starting tomorrow, May 1st. You don’t want to miss it because someone you know may have a character named for them.

Four characters in Veteran are named after real people. Do you know one or more of them? Cheryl Hamilton and Suzanne Bridgeforth were the winners of a raffle at a book event and for prizes I created characters based on them. Cheryl appears as my murder victim’s boss and Suzanne’s character is a probation officer.

My superior court judge is named for Clayton McCarthy, a family friend. I love this no-nonsense character and the roll-off-the-tongue name is perfect.

A dinner scene takes place at Vancouver’s UnderBar, where owner Kurt makes a cameo appearance as our host, charming as always.

The City Streets Series: a murdered runaway, a wrongly-accused veteran and the dicey world of streets punks. Be careful. It’s rough on these streets.

Completing manuscripts and formatting into ebooks is a task full of …let’s call them learning opportunities. Moving on to offer print versions of the crime mysteries is another huge undertaking for an indie author such as myself. Runaway is now available in softcover on Amazon. The novel is also available to booksellers through Ingram. I hope to have Veteran and Gutter Punk available in print by late Spring. For helping me get to this point, I owe a big thank you to Rey at reyzart.com. Rey designed the front covers for the three ebooks and I instantly loved each of them. When I decided to look into various options for print versions, Rey created the back covers and spines as a favor to me. My husband Dave deserves a medal for surviving all my perfectionist tendencies as he provided tech support.
